We strive to bring you the best quality beef while prioritizing ecological stewardship.
Hedgeapple Farm is a family-run, registered 501(c) (3) non-profit educational foundation with a mission toward developing methods and models for small mid-Atlantic farmers on raising cattle in a manner that is sustainable, profitable, and environmentally conscious. Hedgeapple Farm is principally engaged in raising cow-calf pairs, producing weaned calves for direct sales, and developing greater diversification through the production of pastured hogs. While most of our animals are sold as weaned yearlings, we also offer packaged beef and pork in limited quantities directly to the consumer.
Hedgeapple Farm encompasses a mile of Monocacy riverfront and is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. For this reason we prioritize environmental stewardship, incorporating runoff prevention, buffering, wildlife conservation, wetlands restoration, and reforestation.

Our Cattle
We run over 100 Black Angus cow-calf pairs on nearly 350 acres. We invest in genetics that favor grass-finishing for quality beef, and we are currently experimenting with registered bulls to continue to improve our cow productivity and healthy offspring. We do not use growth hormones, and we use antibiotics only when necessary.

Hedgeapple Farm has been working with grass-finishing genetics since the early 2000s, giving us a depth of expertise in this area that surpasses most other producers in our region.
We are committed to humane and sustainable practices. Rotational grazing preserves our pastures, supports ecological health, and ensures the quality of our grass-fed beef. We currently sell bulk beef (quarters, halves, and wholes) on a limited basis. When you buy from us, you’re spending your money locally and supporting small-scale agriculture.
